Emma Fraser

Emma Fraser is a final year PhD candidate at the University of Manchester. Her current research interests focus on video games and urban ruins. Emma’s PhD, “Self and Ruin: Imagining the end of the city”, considers urban ruins (both real and imagined) in relation to the way we think about the cities we live in, with a particular emphasis on video games and digital and 3D images. Emma has undertaken research in Berlin, Paris, Sydney, Detroit, Washington, Boston, and Chernobyl, and has also written about the work of Walter Benjamin in connection to urban renewal, decay, and memory.
